Founded by Leroy Minniecon, a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander man born and raised in Cairns, Queensland, BALA is shaped by more than a decade of experience working across community and youth justice settings.

BALA was created with a simple belief — culture should not be an addition to a service; it should be part of its foundation.

We create culturally safe opportunities for First Nations young people to strengthen their identity, connect with culture and community, build confidence, develop practical skills and work towards positive futures.

Through mentoring, cultural programs, life skills, school programs, transition support and community engagement, BALA works alongside young people, families, schools, organisations and communities to create meaningful opportunities and stronger pathways.
